dmc1Gamers have been all too vocal about their growing distaste for HD remakes on the latest gen.consoles. I got the surprise of my life with the announcement of a DMC port, and after spending endless hours on the PS3 version, this time around I tried it out on Xbox One and got the surprise of my life at just what a difference frame rate can make. I will admit in other games it has been hard to notice a difference with frame rate, but this game stands out as the best example of a HD port I have played on the Xbox One.

This hack and slash game remains a favourite as it combines classic action with a decent story that is dripping with satire and wit. The quick combo, non-stop action is supported by a solid story complete with endless puns and a slow motion naked Dante, floating through the air, body rotating while his clothes fall on him…it truly is a spectacle and a highly detailed sequence that stands out as one of the best detailed in the game.

DMC is the game that divided fans, devotees of the old Dante weren’t happy with the new updated version, and newcomers fell dmc2in love with this cocky, arrogant and handsome lead that drew us into the colourful and bat-shit crazy world of DmC. For me the character comes through as extremely likeable and guides the player through the detailed demonic worlds with a much needed sense of humour and confidence.

The frame rate is definitely something you can notice in this HD remake, the constant combos, jumping from wall to wall to
platform, using your sword and sceptre to whip between jumps and ascensions. The screen never missed a beat and the worlds look endearing in 1080p.

dmc3Capcom & Ninja Theory have crafted a game that is packed full of fun while still remaining a challenge, and this remastered version has Turbo mode. I recommend that if you have finished and mastered the game on previous gen. and want something a little more challenging, you turn this on and try your best to stay alive.

If you are a fan of the previous gen version, this is definitely worth picking up while we are in a games lull at the moment. I have spent about 50 hours so far in this world and am planning many more in this vast and twisted universe.

DmC Definitive Edition is available on Xbox One & PS4
