Ubisoft has unveiled the official launch trailer for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – From the Ashes, offering players a striking new look at the expansion’s darker tone, brutal antagonists, and escalating conflict on Pandora.
Set to launch on December 19, From the Ashes will be available via Ubisoft+, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Amazon Luna, and PC through the Ubisoft Store, Epic Games Store, and Steam.
Developed by Massive Entertainment in collaboration with Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney, the expansion pushes players into a far more hostile corner of Pandora, introducing the Ravaged Kinglor Forest and an unforgiving Western Frontier scarred by conflict and destruction.
Meet the Ash Clan
At the heart of From the Ashes is a fearsome new threat: the Mangkwan, also known as the Ash Clan. Defiant of Eywa and committed to wiping out the Resistance, the Ash Clan’s brutal ideology drives much of the expansion’s story.
Visually distinct from previously encountered Na’vi clans, the Mangkwan feature scarification, piercings, and bold red-and-black war paint — visual echoes of their scorched homeland that reinforce the expansion’s darker, more aggressive tone.
The trailer dives deeper into So’lek’s past, revealing a long-standing rivalry with Wukula, a Mangkwan warrior whose previous clash with So’lek left both figures scarred and thirsty for vengeance. Adding further tension is Zari, a deadly sniper trained by the RDA. Blind in one eye but lethally precise with her human rifle and RDA technology, her uneasy rivalry with Wukula adds another layer of intrigue. The threat escalates further with Rakx, the most sadistic of the Mangkwan raiders, who cruelly weaponises ikrans as tools of violence.
Na’vi vs Na’vi Combat
“For the first time, players will experience Na’vi versus Na’vi combat in dramatic boss encounters,” said Omar Bouali, Creative Director at Massive Entertainment.
“These battles against Mangkwan raiders deliver on one of our community’s biggest requests: more variety and intensity in combat.”

New RDA Threats
The danger doesn’t stop with the Ash Clan. The trailer also teases new RDA innovations, including hellhounds — canine combat robots previously seen in Avatar: The High Ground graphic novel — alongside upgraded Skel suits and new AMP suit variants built for sniper and shotgun combat. These additions make Pandora more dangerous than ever, both on the ground and in the skies.
Players will also come face-to-face with Major Tyler Bukowski, a ruthless RDA officer first introduced in the Avatar: The Gap Year — Tipping Point comics. With an unsettling understanding of Na’vi culture and a brutal tactical approach, Bukowski leads the RDA–Ash Clan offensive into the Western Frontier, targeting the Resistance and placing a particular focus on So’lek.
Expanding Pandora’s Story
From the Ashes builds on the foundations of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, bringing back familiar allies, expanding the lore of existing clans such as the Wind Traders, and delivering emotionally driven story beats that further explore So’lek’s journey of survival, loyalty, and vengeance.
The expansion is available as a standalone purchase or as part of the Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – From the Ashes Edition, which includes the base game, the expansion, and the Floating Mountains bonus content.
New Game+ and Third-Person Mode Now Live
Ahead of the expansion’s release, Ubisoft also rolled out a major free Title Update on December 5, introducing two of the most requested community features: New Game+ and a long-awaited third-person view. These additions offer players a fresh way to revisit Pandora and significantly boost replayability.
With a darker narrative, new enemies, and expanded gameplay systems, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – From the Ashes looks set to push the series into its most intense chapter yet.
Avatar : Frontiers of Pandora is out now on Playstation 5 Xbox Series X/S, Amazon Luna, PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft +.
