Lego Dimensions Update – April 2017

The Lego Batman Movie Level Pack

Another month, another level pack for Lego Dimensions and many more hours (and dollars!) of my life that I will never get back, but it’s all worth it for a new and expansive addition to the Lego Dimensions pack with The Lego Batman Movie.

The pack includes the Batcave and Batcomputer fitout to put over your portal while playing, as well as playable characters Robin and Batgirl. Similar to Ghostbusters : Answer The Call and Fantastic Beasts, you basically play through the plot of the movie. Unlike the previous versions having The Lego Batman movie to play through allows you to see who great the graphics on Lego Dimensions are and how close they are to the film itself.

The characters are voiced by their movie counterparts Robin with Michael Cena and Batgirl with Rosario Dawson. This adds to the already stellar voice cast on Lego Dimensions and helps add to the experience. There are a told of six Lego Batman levels including a hilarious encounter at Superman’s Fortress Of Solitude with the rest of the Justice League that is just as fun to play as it was to watch in the film.

Apart from the levels from the film, the fluidity of the Lego movement that these characters carry across from the film helps distinguish them from the rest of the regular playable characters in the Lego Dimensions universe.

Robin can be transformed into another version of the character Nightwing which is a great wink for DC comics fans and bring additional abilities to the character in other levels and worlds. Batgirl is another great female main character to have and looks a great addition on the Lego Dimensions LED display.

Gremlins Fun Pack – After much umming and ahhing I finally cracked and thanks to a spectacular sale at JB HiFi I finally purchased the Gremlins Fun pack which included Gizmo, a RC Toy Racer, Camera and the evil gremlin Stripe. This also fortunately allowed me to unlock the Gremlins home world and while I was a bit confused as to what I could exactly do inside this world, it is quite expansive and a beautiful winter wonderland that captures the beauty and excitement of the movies.

Play wise Gizmo is just as cute as he is in the movie, also place Supergirl and Gizmo on the portal together for some hilariously cute interactions. Gizmo has a grappling hook that is handy if any of the Bat characters are not on your portal as well as complaining about bright light in world jumps and squealing if you get too close to water. He is also handy to crawl into small spaces and access other parts to uncover mini kits.

Stripe has the dig ability which for me was incredibly useful having no other character who could do this. He will also taunt Gizmo if they are on the portal together and he will mount the camera toy and take flash photos. It is not a massive character for me but a cute addition to my ever growing collection.

That’s it for this month’s Lego Dimensions update, that being said I am predicting that we are about to get an announcement about the next wave of characters as all of the current wave are heavily reduced and disappearing from shelves. I am looking forward to Teen Titans Go!

See you next month for the next Lego Dimensions update
