Nintendo E3 Recap Part 1

It’s been a huge day at E3 with Nintendo starting up with some real crowd pleasers!

Let’s start with the good stuff, with Masahiro Sakurai, the director of Super Smash Brothers announcing new content is on its way for the cult franchise. There’s some big new fighters for purchase as downloadable content including Roy the Young Lion originally from Super Smash brothers Melee, with some badass fire attacks, Lucas the boy from Brawl with crazy cool psychic powers and my personal favourite, Mewtwo. It isn’t just Mewtwo either, it can also be mega evolved into Mega Mewtwo (remember when Pokemon couldn’t do that?). Ryu from Street Fighter is also joining the franchise with his own stage, Suzako Castle. Plus prepare to get nostalgic with the Dream Land stage from the very first N64 game!

Along with the new stages and characters you can also dress up your Mii with some awesome costumes. Loads have been released but here’s my favourites from the list –

  • The Isabelle hat and outfit – everyone’s most loved Animal Crossing character can now be on your head!
  • MegaMan.EXE’s helmet and armour – blaster arm, no further explanation required.
  • Inkling Wig and Outfit/Inkling Squid hat – my favourite new Nintendo release comes to Super Smash. Brilliant.

You can buy the characters, costumes and stages individually or as a costume bundle or the entire DLC 2 collection. Believe us when we say this is a cheaper option! All the content is available for WiiU, 3DS or both.

Nintendo continued with the nostalgic feels by bringing back the Nintendo World Championships after a 25 year hiatus. Okay so I wasn’t born for the last one 25 years ago (only just) but I loved the idea of a competition spanning new, current and past Nintendo titles. The definite highlight was a glimpse of Blast Ball, a 3DS game where players wear a metal suit and use blasters to get a ball into a goal. Soccer with guns sounds fun to us, no release date as yet though!

Plus remember Super Mario Maker released last year? Well at E3 today Nintendo revealed the new name and debuted some tough levels showing the huge potential of the level builder. The game will be playable at Best Buys in the US this week and pre-orders are open on Amazon.
Novastream will continue to keep you up to date with the latest and greatest from Nintendo at E3 so check back for updates!

P.S. Animal Crossing Amiibos also appear to have leaked. Stay tuned.
