Skyrim Anniversary Edition Brings Tamriel to Nintendo Switch 2

Just in time for the holiday break, Bethesda Game Studios has announced and released The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition on Nintendo Switch 2, once again proving that the iconic RPG has no intention of slowing down.

More than a decade after its 2011 release and after earning over 200 Game of the Year awards, Skyrim continues to find new audiences on newer hardware. The Switch 2 version offers the most refined Nintendo portable experience to date, taking full advantage of the console’s upgraded capabilities.

The Skyrim Anniversary Edition includes the full base game alongside its three major expansions — Dawnguard, Dragonborn, and Hearthfire. On Switch 2 the game has been beefed up with enhanced resolution, faster load times, performance optimisations, Joy-Con 2 mouse support, motion controls, and Amiibo compatibility, all designed to make exploring Tamriel smoother and more immersive than ever.

Nintendo fans will also be pleased to see the return of exclusive The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild content. Players can once again equip the Master Sword, Hylian Shield, and Champion’s Tunic, adding a distinctly Hyrule-flavoured twist to their Dragonborn adventure.

Beyond the core game, Anniversary Edition owners gain access to hundreds of Creation Club items. These additions include new quests, weapons, armour sets, spells, dungeons, and more, giving players even greater freedom to customise how they experience Skyrim — whether that’s diving into fresh stories or experimenting with new playstyles.

There are several different options to be able to purchase the Switch 2 version of the game including :

  • The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition is available for $89.95 AUD | $59.99 USD
  • Players who already own the Anniversary Edition on Nintendo Switch can upgrade to the Switch 2 version for free
  • Owners of the base Skyrim on Switch can purchase the Anniversary Upgrade for $30.00 AUD | $19.99 USD, playable on both Switch and Switch 2

With enhanced performance, flexible upgrade paths, and a mountain of content baked in, Skyrim Anniversary Edition on Nintendo Switch 2 once again invites players to step back into one of gaming’s most enduring fantasy worlds — whether you’re returning for the hundredth time or venturing into Tamriel for the very first.
