PAXAus Cosplay Land 2026

Few do Cosplay better than PAX. What has sometimes been looked upon as a strange obsession, albeit fondly created by a group of extremely talented and dedicated individuals, no convention I have been too has been as open and welcoming to all levels of cosplay and unanimously applauded it. From epic costumes completely embodying the character they wish to portray to the kids running around in a mask mum and dad picked up at a booth earlier that day, every tier is welcomed into the community with the same warmth that the PAX Aus convention is so well known for.
Personally, I’ve never really understood the allure but have always praised the efforts. PAX Aus 2025 I found myself smack in the middle of a few of their meet ups as I searched for some fresh air and got to talking to a few different people who were extremely into their character, I even had a somewhat surreal moment of my gamer persona being called out and having a photo taken with someone in wolf head, no idea who you were but if you have the pic let me know.

PAX Aus will once again be hosting the Cosplay Central Crown Championship this year, marking its fifth time hosting one of the most anticipated cosplay comps on the calendar. This year the winner will go on to represent Australia at the Cosplay Central Crown Championship Global Final at MCM London Comic Con in 2027.

Hosting duties once again fall to The Gem Cosplay who brings years of experience, community knowledge and a deep love for the craft. Gem will once again bring out the best in the cosplayers helping them showcasing their work and guiding the audience through the artistry on display, acting as a bridge between creators and the audience.

Joining Gem is an international panel of judges featuring Cinderys, a Paris-based professional cosplayer and concept/3D artist, Soylent Cosplay, a Sydney local professional cosplayer and special FX makeup artist and Spicythaidesign, a global cosplay star and costumer at the award-winning Weta Workshop in New Zealand.

What sets this year apart from the previous is the brand new dedicated space COSPLAY LAND! A central hub for all levels of cosplayer designed to support and help celebrate everyone in the community. It will feature a dedicated theatre for panel hosting’s alongside more practical amenities such as a repair station and change rooms. The space also features a media wall with Australian cosplay photographers and a walk-up community wall. Attendees can take part in hands-on workshops presented by Lumin’s Workshop, relax in a lounge area with seating and connect with fellow cosplay fans through dedicated community meetups and trading opportunities.
