Netflix Website Upgrade Goes Live

After four successful years for Netflix, the website has finally unveiled a new and fresh update for their website!

The first major update in this period has been able to create an experience that has been adapted to make access faster and to make it easier to discover great films and TV shows for millions of members globally. It is unique that the site has waited four years for a drastic change, due to the quick-changing nature of web browsers in recent years, due to sites allowing a richer and more visual and sophisticated experience for users. This has changed not only on people’s laptops and computers, but also to the larger demographic that is viewing Netflix on apps on their mobiles and tablets more than ever before.

This more visual experience has created a website that works more like an app. Information appears in-line and in context rather than a separate page, making everything much more convenient and allows one to explore the vast catalogue faster than previously before.

Now, when you go on the updated Netflix website, you are able to hover your mouse over a film or television title, and you can now see a slideshow of images from that particular film or show. This enables the audience to get a greater feel for the tone and what the show is about, rather than just reading the simple description or synopsis alone.

By clicking on the title or synopsis of a film or show opens an inline details pane, which allows one to browse episodes and read details and reviews from others. There is also another link ‘More Like This’, which enables you to explore films or shows that have similar themes and titles, or you are also able to jump off to titles from the same cast, genre and mood.

Now that scrolling through rows in now much faster, allowing a simple mouse click advancing a full row at a time. This also creates a much more convenient and easier use of finding something to watch than previously.

The new update of the website that has been created by Netflix, whether you are using a mouse, trackpad or touch screen, all works easily and very well. Touch screen users can now tap to play or open details, and swipe to scroll through rows of film and television titles.

These changes have now globally been taken into effect, however, Netflix has stated it may take two weeks to reach all members.

They have also said that a small number of members on older versions of popular browsers will be prompted to upgrade their browser before they are able to actually access the new site.

The Netflix team wished that you enjoy the new Netflix website and are thrilled to share this project with us.
