In a captivating fusion of film, theatre, and live music, Sony Music Australia announces an immersive production of Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet set to debut at The Astor Theatre from September 23 to 28. This Australian premiere follows over a decade of sold-out performances in London, where the production proved to be a beloved hit.
Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the cult classic film, the event features a live choir and band on stage, reinterpreting the soundtrack that made history, including hits like ‘Young Hearts,’ ‘Everybody’s Free,’ ‘Kissing You,’ and ‘When Doves Cry.’ Created by UK-based Backyard Cinema, the Melbourne adaptation promises audiences a multisensory experience that transports them directly into the heart of Verona.

The show’s popularity in London has prompted the addition of three matinee performances to meet rising demand, with tickets having only recently gone on sale. A well-known narrator, soon to be announced, will add a local touch to the production, further enhancing its appeal.

Tickets are available now through Ticketek, with performances scheduled nightly at The Astor Theatre from the 23rd to the 28th of September, including added matinees on Wednesday and Friday.
