It is the movie Warner Bros. tried to erase from existence, but you can’t keep a good coyote down. The official trailer for Coyote vs. Acme has finally dropped, bringing the highly anticipated live-action/animation hybrid out of the vault and onto our screens.
The Courtroom Battle of the Century
Directed by Dave Green, the film reimagines one of cartoon history’s most iconic underdogs. After decades of being blown up, crushed, and dropped off cliffs by notoriously faulty ACME Corporation gadgets, Wile E. Coyote is finally fighting back and taking his grievances to court.
He hires a down-on-his-luck lawyer, Kevin Avery (Will Forte), who sees the monumental case as his one shot at redemption. But the legal battle quickly turns personal when they face off against ACME’s powerhouse attorney – and Kevin’s formidable former boss – Buddy Crane (John Cena).
Lana Condor also stars in what promises to be a fast-paced collision of classic Looney Tunes, gag-driven mayhem, and high-stakes legal drama.
Back from the Brink
The real-life story behind the release is almost as wild as the movie itself. Completed in 2023, Warner Bros. controversially shelved the project as part of a tax write-off strategy, despite reportedly exceptional audience test scores. The unprecedented decision sparked massive global outrage from fans and filmmakers alike, who rallied behind the film and demanded it see the light of day.
That groundswell paid off. Ketchup Entertainment stepped in to acquire the worldwide rights in 2025, saving the film from being permanently locked away and igniting a renewed wave of online buzz.
Now, Australian audiences can finally see what the hype is all about. Coyote vs. Acme charges into local cinemas on September 17 through Pinnacle Films.
