The Further Is Coming For Our World – “Insidious: Out Of The Further” Gets First Trailer

0

The Insidious franchise is back, and it’s bringing hell with it – literally.

Sony Pictures has dropped the official trailer for Insidious: Out Of The Further, the next chapter in the long-running supernatural horror series, and it looks like The Further is about to get a whole lot more terrifying. The film is set to hit cinemas exclusively on August 20, 2026.

A New Family, A New Kind of Terror

The film introduces Amelia Eve (The Haunting of Bly Manor) as Gemma, a young mother raising her daughter in the house she grew up in – never a great sign in the Insidious universe. Gemma soon discovers she has the ability to travel into The Further, the purgatorial realm of lost souls that has served as the franchise’s spine since the original 2010 film.

But here’s where things get a dark twist: Gemma isn’t just a passenger in The Further. She can bring what lives there back to the real world. Once the demons figure that out, our world becomes their playground.

Elise Returns

Horror legend Lin Shaye returns as the beloved and iconic Elise Rainier, anchoring the new story to the mythology fans have followed across the franchise’s run. It’s a welcome piece of continuity as the series steps into fresh territory with a brand new central family.

Behind the camera, Jacob Chase – best known for the creepy 2020 chiller Come Play – takes the director’s chair, working from a screenplay he wrote himself, based on a story developed with The Conjuring writer David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. That’s a solid horror pedigree on both sides of the lens.

$740 Million Strong

Having grossed over $740 million at the global box office, the Insidious franchise remains one of the most successful horror series in cinema history. With a compelling new lead, a genuinely unnerving new power dynamic, and the return of Shaye as Elise, Out Of The Further looks set to remind audiences why they were afraid of the dark in the first place.

Insidious: Out Of The Further opens exclusively in cinemas August 20, 2026.
