The perfect matchmaker. But who’s her perfect match?
Sony Pictures Releasing has unveiled a fresh trailer for Materialists, its upcoming romantic comedy featuring Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal. The film is set to hit theaters on June 12, 2025.
The story centres on a sought-after matchmaker, portrayed by Johnson, whose high-end services attract a wealthy clientele. But when a complicated love triangle forms—pitting her flawed ex against an ideal new suitor—her personal and professional lives spiral into chaos. As emotions intensify, she must choose between passion and perfection, with both men vying for her heart.
Joining the star-studded cast are Marin Ireland, Sawyer Spielberg, Lindsey Broad, Louisa Jacobson, Dasha Nekrasova, Rachel Zeiger-Haag, and others.
Materialists is written and directed by Celine Song, marking her return to A24 after her acclaimed 2023 debut Past Lives. That film, which starred Greta Lee, Teo Yoo, and John Magaro, earned Song two Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay.
The new film is produced by Song herself, along with David Hinojosa for 2AM and Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler for Killer Films.
