What’s Goin On? Starts episode 4 of Sense 8 and dammnit even as I am writing it I am singing What’s Up by the 4 Non Blondes, a song that the senseates sing in unison and it will be stuck in your head for DAYS! Fortunately the senseates are becoming aware of each other and how they can transport to each other’s part of the world and interact.
This also flows over into their emotions, the hilarious emotional rollercoaster of Sun’s period which effects Lito is poignant and lifts the often seriousness tone. Episodes 4 – 8 are much easier to digest and really start to build the story to its peak. A shared orgy is one of the hottest sex scenes I think I have ever seen on any television show sees guy on girl, girl on girl, guy on guy, all going for it regardless of sexuality and is definitely one to watch alone!
Kala struggles with her Hindu faith after discovering the family she is marrying into wants to destroy the temple to Ganesha in her village. It stands out a lot as a testament to people of faith and the struggles and decisions they go through when presented with issues like this. I know from personal experience that Christians face this a lot of the time and it was interesting to see played out in this format.
Now back to the orgy scene, not all characters are involved in this scene, but the ones that are carry themselves perfectly. There is not a wince or ounce or hesitation as macho cop Will is taken by Lito while doing weights, the spa scene includes some male appendage which is a welcome break from all the boob action that this show loves to flash around.
It’s not all orgies and boobs though, Sun and Capheus stories pull everything back into a sense of reality. The two talk to each other and pave a way 
for Sun to give her sacrificial statement about her brother’s embezzlement. Watching her meditate and exercise is a peaceful and serene moment in this show, it highlights the innocence and gives us a deeper sense of who this character is and that only escalates the impact of her taking the rapp.
Capheus however has the highest stakes, his mother is seriously ill and keeps insisting that he is wasting his money and efforts on her medication. As she deteriorates, the lengths that he will go to acquiring the medicine she needs is bold and highlights the range of the actor Chichi Seii.
All of these subplots don’t detract from the overall story arc, in fact they give the viewer a deeper insight into the characters psyche and legitimise why you should stick around for the gut wrenching finale. The biggest impression I got from this show was Season 1 of Heroes (you know, when it was good!) Fortunately the pace picks up from the first four and these are easily the most re-watchable and intense episodes of the first season.
