PAX AUS 2023 Guide: Make the most of your time

PAX Australia is here! This year’s PAX is set to be a massive event, as it always is, with the return of several publishers and companies that were sorely missed last year. If you’re new to PAX or need to brush up on your PAX Aus Checklist, we’ve covered everything you need to make the most of your time.

Personal Self-care Checklist

The Melbourne Convention Centre is a massive building that PAX takes over during the weekend. There is so much to see and do, but your first priority should be looking after number one, you! Make sure to;

  • Wear comfortable walking shoes – You’ll move nonstop unless you’re standing in a two-hour line to play Mario.
  • Carry a water bottle – Stay hydrated. You will be able to refill in the convention.
  • Bring an empty backpack – If you buy, win or are given anything for free!
  • Deodorant – An absolute must.
  • Download the PAX App – The Phone App will help you track panels, map out the event and more!

Make the most of PAX Aus 2023

If you’re only attending PAX for one day, seeing and doing everything is impossible; I’ve tried. Even all three days aren’t enough, so maximise your time. Plan ahead; check what panels you want to attend and the expo booths before arriving so you can map out your day. For ideas, check out our articles on both:

The show floor opens at 10:00 a.m. AEDT on all three days; however, arriving before the opening time is best. Otherwise, you’ll be waiting in line as they only allow a certain number of people through the doors simultaneously. The earlier you arrive, the earlier you’ll be allowed in, saving you precious queueing time once inside to play games or check out the booths.

If you’re attending multiple days, I’d recommend completing all your must-do items on the first day. This year for me, that’s playing Super Mario Bros. Wonder. The line will be massive, but I’ve got to get my hands on the Plumber’s later adventure. By ticking off these items on the first day, you’ll have plenty of time to explore and soak it all in. I highly recommend scheduling a few hours to walk the show floor, stop by any booths that draw your attention and soak it all in. Often, my favourite part of the event is merely wondering the expo hall and stopping at whatever booth draws my eyes. The best time to wander the floor is often in the late afternoon, as it’s typically the quietest time, as most people have left for the day.

PAX Aus 2023 will run from October 6th to October 8th. You can also view the full schedule at PAX’s website.
