Straight out of Las Vegas, 20th Century Studios has given audiences their first glimpse at Ridley Scott’s highly anticipated next project. During the studio’s annual CinemaCon presentation, they unveiled the official poster and debut trailer for The Dog Stars, an epic new thriller that proves survival is an instinct, but humanity is a choice.
Based on Peter Heller’s captivating bestselling novel, The Dog Stars transports us to a brutal, post-apocalyptic world. The story centers on Hig, a young pilot who has managed to carve out an isolated but efficient homestead alongside a hardened military survivalist named Bangley. Their quiet, survival-focused existence is suddenly upended when a mysterious radio transmission comes through the static—prompting Hig to leave their safe haven and venture into the dangerous unknown in search of the hope and humanity he refuses to give up on.
As expected from a Ridley Scott cinematic event, the film boasts an absolutely stacked, critically acclaimed ensemble cast. The film stars Jacob Elordi (Saltburn, Euphoria) and Josh Brolin (Dune, Avengers: Endgame), alongside Margaret Qualley, Guy Pearce, Benedict Wong, and Academy Award winner Allison Janney.
The adaptation was penned by Mark L. Smith, who also serves as a producer alongside Ridley Scott, Michael Pruss, and Cliff Roberts.
If the CinemaCon reactions are anything to go by, this is going to be a must-see cinematic experience when it hits the big screen later this year.
The Dog Stars debuts exclusively in cinemas on August 27.
