Move over Paris! Brisbane is the new city of love with the BLUSSH Romance Festival!

Join the lovers, the dreamers, the storytellers, and the romance enthusiasts at the BLUSSH Romance Festival – Brisbane’s newest festival celebrating films and literature through a romance lens and the first of its kind in Australia. From 22-25 February 2024, the pink carpet will be rolled out to welcome all of Brisbane with a series of book and film events celebrating romance in all its shades.

BLUSSH Romance Festival Director, Sue-Anne Chapman said, “More romance films are being made, and romance books being written, in Brisbane than anywhere else in Australia. And this is how BLUSSH ROMANCE FESTIVAL was born – a super fun event to showcase these wonderful stories and provide audiences with an opportunity to come together with like-minded romance film and book enthusiasts”.

Buy love this Christmas with early bird tickets to BLUSSH’S inaugural Opening Night Gala and Australian premiere of One Perfect Match on Thursday 22 February 2024 at the Angelika Film Centre, South City Square. Join Director Jo-Anne Brechin, filmmakers, and principal cast on the pink carpet, enjoy canapes and drinks on arrival, and a special post-screening Q&A. Pre-sales available until 2 January.

Filmed entirely on location in Brisbane, including around South/City/SQ, and produced by the kings and queens of romance, Jaggi Entertainment, One Perfect Match follows matchmaker Lucy Marks as she juggles her work and personal life. When she meets a handsome businessman, she immediately feels a spark, but that spark is ruined when she learns he is her newest client.

Jo-Anne Brechin, director, One Perfect Match said “I am beyond thrilled that BLUSSH Romance Festival has selected ONE PERFECT MATCH to screen at their Opening Gala Night, right here in Brisbane where the film was made. ONE PERFECT MATCH stars a stellar cast and was crafted by a gorgeous group of local people. Made by lovers of love for lovers of love, it’s an honour to have ONE PERFECT MATCH kick-start BLUSSH and help romance bloom/blossom in Brisbane.

Festival Co-Director and film producer, Kylie Pascoe added, “Brisbane is home to many romance filmmakers and writers, and we are so proud and excited to bring these two together in a celebration of romance, literature and film. Along with our partners, BLUSSH Romance Festival will create and deliver a 4-day program that will capture your heart.”

The full program of BLUSSH ROMANCE FESTIVAL’S book and film events and ticket sales will launch on Thursday 25 January.
