Frontier Developments just dropped a massive world exclusive during the PC Gaming Show, giving us our very first look at the gameplay for Planet Zoo 2. Slated to launch on October 13, 2026, across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, the highly anticipated sequel is promising a true generational leap for the beloved zoo management simulator.

Planet Zoo is one of my all time favourite games, Frontier consistently deliver amazing experiences with Planet Coaster and Jurassic World series, the release of Planet Zoo took animal sims to the next level and I cannot wait to get my hands on this incredible looking sequel.

The biggest news for budding zookeepers? We are finally looking to the skies and beneath the surface. For the first time in the franchise, Planet Zoo 2 is introducing fully aquatic and flying species. Players will be able to construct custom aquariums and aviaries, adding an entirely new dimension of management and design to their parks.

Frontier is also doubling down on the game’s core message of animal welfare. Planet Zoo 2 brings a significantly deeper focus on conservation and rewilding, allowing players to fulfill the ultimate goal of real-world zoos: restoring damaged environments and releasing animals back into their natural habitats. The new gameplay trailer showed off this process in the breathtaking Scottish Highland Wildlife Reserve, which serves as the perfect home for newly revealed animals like the Red Deer and White-tailed Eagle.

Speaking of the roster, the sequel’s hyper-realistic simulation boasts incredibly authentic behaviors driven by a new dynamic mood system. Zookeepers will need to balance water, food, and enrichment to keep their exhibits thriving. The confirmed lineup is already looking stellar, with the Masai Giraffe, Blackspotted Puffer, Great Hornbill, Eurasian Beaver, and Grey Wolf joining previously announced favorites like the Sumatran Tiger, Hawksbill Turtle, and Toco Toucan.

All of this is backed by Frontier’s iconic piece-by-piece construction tools, which have been upgraded with an expanded terrain editor to make building the perfect habitat easier than ever.

Pre-orders are live now, and early adopters will score a Bonus Content Pack at launch featuring the Toucan Eat Shop, three unique animal donation bins, and a Tiger Photo Stand-In Wall. For those wanting to go all-in on their park, the Planet Zoo 2: Deluxe Edition bundles the base game with six additional global species and a selection of exclusive park signage.
