ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has officially opened pre-orders for its brand-new handhelds, the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, in Australia. From 11:00 am AEST today, gamers can secure their device ahead of the global launch on October 16.
Two Models, Two Playstyles
The base ROG Xbox Ally is priced at AUD $999 and is described as the ideal handheld for casual and core players alike. The higher-end ROG Xbox Ally X, retailing for AUD $1,599, is designed for serious gamers chasing next-gen handheld performance.
Both devices are available to pre-order via the Microsoft Store, ASUS e-Shop, and participating retailers.
Console Meets PC
Developed in partnership with Xbox, the new Ally line combines the ergonomics and screen-forward design of handheld consoles with the flexibility of a Windows 11 gaming PC. Players will have access to their full PC gaming library, whether that’s through Xbox Game Pass, Steam, Epic Games Store, or other platforms.
Serious Power Under the Hood
The ROG Xbox Ally is powered by the efficient AMD Ryzen™ Z2 A Processor, while the Ally X steps up with the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme Processor. According to ROG, these chips deliver major generational gains:
- Up to 30% performance boost in titles like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Doom: The Dark Ages on the Ally X.
- Up to 20% better performance in Forza Horizon 5 and Gears of War: Reloaded on the Ally.
- Significantly improved battery life on both models, with the Ally X boasting up to double the endurance in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
Both systems also support AMD’s latest graphical technologies, including FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR), Radeon Super Resolution (RSR), and Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) — with frame rate improvements of up to 60% for smoother gameplay.
