The final chapter of Prime Video’s hit superhero series has a premiere date, and the stakes have never been higher.
Prime Video has released the official trailer for the fifth and final season of The Boys, and if the footage is anything to go by, the beloved satirical superhero series is going out with an absolute bang. Season Five kicks off on April 8, 2026, with a two-episode premiere, followed by weekly releases through to the series finale on May 20, 2026.
The trailer reunites the show’s iconic ensemble as they face what promises to be their most desperate hour yet.
When we catch up with the gang, things have never looked worse. Homelander is fully in control, ruling with the kind of unhinged, ego-fuelled tyranny that fans have been dreading since Season One (although that may feel a little too close to home right now!) Hughie, Mother’s Milk, and Frenchie find themselves locked up in a chillingly named “Freedom Camp,” while Annie is doing her best to hold a resistance together against an overwhelming Supe force. Kimiko, meanwhile, is conspicuously absent.
Then Butcher shows up – and he’s brought a virus capable of wiping every Supe on the planet off the map. As you’d expect, that doesn’t exactly simplify things.
This season will reunite Supernatural stars Jensen Ackles, who plays Soldier Boy, and his long-time co-star Jared Padalecki.
The multi-Emmy Award-winning series is based on the New York Times best-selling comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, developed for television by showrunner Eric Kripke. It is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios.
