I know, it’s 2020, it has been one of those years and amongst everything that has happened, the biggest thing we have missed is pop.culture conventions. We have watched as every month they got delayed then eventually cancelled. The impact this has had on the community is more than anyone could ever hope to understand. While we miss seeing our favourite cosplayers, discovering new ones and finding out what’s hot in Pop.Culture, the folks at OzComicCon are here to save christmas with ComicCon 365.
The team over at Expertise Events are gathering together suppliers and creators in Australia in a shared online universe that we can all enjoy. There will be exclusive offerings in the Expo Hall, here you can shop unique and popular products from your favourite pop culture icons. There will also be an Artist Alley with handcrafted creations for local artists. If it is any reflection on what OzComicCon offers in person, then you are definitely in for a treat with this one.
2020 has been a year of learning, and while there is definitely digital fatigue in the air, it is never too late to stop learning! A digital Workshop Stage will play home to virtual tutorials and workshops from industry leaders covering a wide variety of topics.
If you are missing your celebrity meet ups, you can get your fix with personal video messages from James Marsters (Buffy The Vampire Slayer), Doug Jones (Hellboy, Star Trek : Discovery), Chris Klein (American Pie) and Jewel Staite (Firefly).
Managing Director of Expertise Events, Gary Fitz-Roy says, “Expertise Events is proud to present a truly unique experience to the Australian pop culture community. Not only is it amassive step forward for the convention scene but it will also provide a outlet for fans allaround the globe to engage with each other and enjoy the benefits of comic-con all year round.”
If that wasn’t enough, you can do all of your Christmas shopping and force your pop.culture obsessions on your family and friends. There will be hard to find merchandise, graphic novels and exclusive art prints all up for grabs during the convention.
Look I know what you are thinking, Oh look another digital event, this one really is paving the way with a dedicated local store and at home convention experience (without the Con flu!) and you don’t have to leave the house to do your Christmas shopping!
