Halo S1E8 Recap

Episode 8 is centred around Makee and Master Chief and their strange and complicated relationship to each other. John is still fixated on his transportation to the Halo via the artifact and exactly what he saw and felt there. Feeling this connection to Makee he goes to see her and relieves the guards from their post outside, taking Makee on a walk through the UNSC headquarters and through the outdoor courtyard, always under the watchful eyes of the UNSC.

Makee and John walk and talk about the connection they feel to the artifact and the Halo admitting they saw each other there last time John used the artifact. Makee tells John of how the ring is sacred to the Covenant sweeping all who are worthy to it via a great wind and those unworthy will be cleansed.

The walk is cut short with notification of the Covenants attacks on Agade killing 11 million of its inhabitants. While Master Chief persuades Admiral Parangosky to use him and Makee together to find the Covenant via the artifact they have in their possession and searching for the other.

From here the story takes a turn, one that we all saw coming but wasn’t really needed. We see a further evolution of Makee and her humanity plus exactly what humanity is capable of. Dr Halsey after being removed from her position in a previous episode is still on Reach trying to keep herself meddling in the continued studies of the artifact and making sure Cortana keeps a close eye on everything going on.

With the timeline of her extradition pushed up the twisted mind of Dr Halsey has officially snapped and her warped sense of duty has not only changed how the Spartans are used within the UNSC but also brings out some of the best scenes of the series so far and even some more fan service tying directly back to the games.

Episode 8 Allegiance is the penultimate episode of season 1 of Halo and one of the better ones.

With only 1 more episode this season it is shaping up to be an episode to remember.

Episode 8 is available now on Paramount +
