There are few out there that would argue to the shear brilliance that is Captain Jean Luc Picard. Sure if you’re a Star Trek fan you have your favourite star ship captain but it is hard to find one that holds the enduring stature of Jean Luc.
Season 1 of Picard finished on a note that was perfect for me. I wept at its conclusion and still doubt they can top it, but onto Season 2.
Episode 1 pics up a short time after the completion of Season 1. Captain Jean Luc is now an Admiral in charge of the Star Fleet Academy on Earth, tending to his vineyard and looking back on his life spent in the stars when a strange phenomenon in space calls for Picard by name sending him to the stars once more.
Picard once again delves into his own mortality and exactly what his life amongst the stars has cost him. Torn between his own wants and sense of duty it feels as though Picard is slowly losing his grip on his own reality.
Once again Star Trek Picard has started the season off with a bang. We see the same faces from season 1 and some familiar faces from the series. Episode 1 is full of twists and turns and is near on confusing in its finale moments.
I don’t want to delve into the story or the special appearances as they are best experienced for yourself. If you’re a fan it is one to watch. If you’re new it is better to catch up with season 1 before delving into this.
